EXOTIC CARIBBEAN ISLAND

The exotic Calivigny Island rises in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, featuring cream sandy beaches, turquoise waters and lush tropical greenery...

Calivigny Island is the Caribbean’s newest private island resort. The island is able to accommodate small and medium groups of tourists in a 10-suite residence decorated in typical French colonial style mixed with Balinese designs, allowing for great privacy to each of the guests. Oscar de la Renta and Richard Frinier themselves have put their hands into this resort through elements of decór, additional to the custom-designed furnishing. There is also a number of gathering spaces, both informal and formal, in case you want to be close to your friends or just need a secluded romantic spot.

The island’s villa is a sympathetic blend of French colonial villa and Balinese beach house, built with the most luxurious materials imported from all over the world. Constructed under the supervision of a troupe of travelling artisans from France, the sprawling 10,000 square metre villa boasts Italian marble, greenheart hardwood from Guiana, French fabrics, Venetian glass and American furniture.

The island currently offers a palatial master suite of 125-square metres incorporating a private sitting room, bedroom and bathroom of giant proportions; five magnificent VIP suites with private sitting rooms, studies and bathrooms with huge spa baths; and four further smaller suites. All of these are air-conditioned and together provide accommodation for 20 guests, but four smaller en-suite rooms are available for personal staff or children and their nannies, taking the owner’s party to a total of 26. More guest accommodation is due to come on line in 2011, raising Calivigny’s capacity to a total of 40 plus, but these ongoing works are sufficiently far from the finished villa so as not to create any disturbance to guests. The photos really speak for themselves – check them out.
