A contemporary masterpiece owned by fashion heavyweights...
Listed for sale by its owners, Tom and Ruth Chapman, co-founders of MatchesFashion, the 6,287-square-foot home is located in Beverly Hills, an affluent enclave filled with mansions designed by some of the country's best mid-century architects.
The Chapmans' home was built in the 1960s and has since undergone extensive renovations by Los Angeles-based design firm Studio Shamshiri. Although the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home sits on less than an acre of land, it still offers sweeping views of the Los Angeles skyline with soaring ceilings, a lavish reception room, formal dining room, study and self-contained studio designed to balance its modern appeal.
The gated villa includes separate guest rooms, an outdoor pool, a media room, a large kitchen and a three-car garage. Best of all, the large master suite has its own pool deck.
The British couple bought the house for $24 million in 2017, and it took Studio Shamshiri a total of four years to remodel the residence. "The home is incredibly elegant and extremely well done," agent Carl Gambino of Compass said in a statement. "Pack an exceptional design with a phenomenal view and you have a property unlike anything else on the market today."
In 1987, the Chapmans established their business in Wimbledon. It was the first multi-brand to introduce designers such as Prada and Bottega Veneta to UK customers. In 1992, the company opened a stand-alone store selling exclusively men's clothing. The duo has since expanded their retail empire to include 14 stores across London and an e-commerce site, which launched in 2016.
The Beverly Hills property they are selling is currently one of the 50 most expensive homes in Los Angeles (on the market), as well as one of the largest residences available within the Trousdale estate. In addition to a wonderful home, the new owner will have a great neighbourhood including Jennifer Aniston, David Spacey and Jane Fonda.
