This fortress was built in 1299 and had a remarkable strategic position - it was impregnable for many aggressors. Later, it was turned into a modernized Renaissance building and the royal palace.

Due to the fact that Norway is a country of the Vikings, many characteristics attractions were raised in their honor. Museum of the Viking boat shows two best preserved Viking ship in the world, all built in the ninth century.
