Lalique and Steinway - impeccable collaboration

During the last hundred years, some of the most talented designers and artists collaborated with the company Steinway & Sons, to create a wide repertoire of unique, captivating pianos...

Last amazing and creative collaboration has been made between the company Steinway & Sons brand Lalique and, as a result, has introduced a new piano as a masterpiece of art, called Heliconia. These two luxury brands, dedicated in their designs, the highest quality and superior workmanship, have one common goal: the pursuit of perfection.

The challenge was to create an instrument that will unite the qualities and characteristics of both brands in one creation. The designers have therefore decided to work with a single leitmotif of Lalique archives - Helikonia flower, which was originally created by Marie-Claude Lalique, the grandson of Rene Lalique.

75 Lalique crystals which decorate each piano were pressed, shaped, cut, engraved, polished and signed in Lalique factory in Alsace, but then each crystal was individually assigned to every piano in the Steinway factory in Hamburg.

Design of the Helikonia flower is a combination of crystal and metal inserts, and can be seen on the cover, easel and housing. The result is a beautiful piece of art, which used famous Lalique methods, based on contrasts and interesting finishing details. Every grand piano has a special plaque inside the case, which according to customer can be personalized.

Pianos from this series are available in sizes O-180, A-188 and B-211th There are also standard black or white finishing touches, although the special requirements also available, such as high-quality wooden paneling or additional color.
