Celebrities who’ve crashed their expensive cars

They are beautiful, they have powerful engines, a design that is quite unique, they are amazing, desirable and expensive...

Most often they are driven by famous, wealthy people, which makes them even more exclusive. Luxury cars, worth several millions of dollars each, are a unique status symbol in the world of the rich and famous, by which members of the same social group, that is, who are each other's biggest competitors, are recognized. Unique models, those created in limited edition series or made of special materials, certainly have enormous value, which is why they are generally beyond the reach of the run-of-the-mill, average person.

However, just like with all other cars, many things can happen to them on the road - from breakdowns, minor damage to accidents where their beauty, functionality and value are multiplied by zero. From Rowan Atkinson, through Ronaldo, to Tracy Morgan, numerous celebrities have repeatedly crashed their expensive cars, turning them into piles of junk. You can find out what is left of their four-wheeled pets in our gallery.

McLaren F1 by Rowan Atkinson

Bruce McLaren, founder of the McLaren Racing Team, passed away after a crash during testing in 1970. His team did their best to make him proud in this world, avoiding the worst accidents in Formula One competition to this day. The McLaren production models, by all accounts, were not that lucky.

English actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson spent more than half a million pounds on a rare McLaren F1 in 1997. Still, he did not enjoy it for long, as he was involved in a car accident shortly after the purchase. He hit Austin Metro, a small town car from behind. His car was repaired, and the actor used it for twelve years before crashing again. Then, the car caught fire, causing the actor to lose control of the vehicle and hit a tree.

The repairs took a long time, ie over a year, and the actor no longer had the desire to drive it, so in 2015 he sold it for £ 8 million.

Afrojack’s Ferrari

Nick van de Val, better known by his stage name Afrojack, bought his Ferrari 458 Italia in February 2013. However, his ownership was indeed very short: the Dutch DJ slammed his $ 240,000 machine just an hour after the purchase. Still, he learned his lesson back then, so we're sure he won't drive a Ferrari again in bad weather.

Ronaldo's Ferrari

The star of football, Cristiano Ronaldo, prides himself on his supercar collection, which includes the Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, BMW M6, Bentley GT Speed, Aston Martin DB9, Audi R8, as well as three Ferrari models - 599 GTO, F430 and 599 GTB Fiorano. The last model, footballer bought in 2009, when he was a winger of Manchester United. Two days after retrieving the keys to this handsome beast, he lost control of the steering wheel in a tunnel beneath Manchester Airport and slammed it beyond recognition. Although the car went to scrap iron after that accident, Ronaldo was not injured.

Jay Kay's Lamborghini

Jay Kay, or Jason Lewis Read, is the frontman of the British funk and acid jazz group, Jamiroquai. He has a specific taste for exotic cars and is said to have more than seventy models. In 2006, Jay K had a wealth of experience with the purple Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota, which he used to make the Cosmic Girl video. As he tried to turn left, he landed out of the way and turned his beloved car into waste. In addition, he was fined $ 800 for the accident.

Tracy Morgan's Bugatti

Tracy Morgan, an actor known for his roles in 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live, sustained serious injuries when a Walmart truck crashed into his limo, costing Walmart Corporation $ 90 million. Morgan decided to spend some of the compensation he received on the supercar. He bought himself a used Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport last summer for $ 2 million. Two hours after leaving the showroom, Morgan's Bugatti was damaged when a Honda SUV crashed into him at an intersection. The damage sustained by the car was not serious, but the repairs were certainly expensive and affected its overall value.
