When the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport set a new world record for a production car in 2010 with a top speed of 431.072 km/h, the moment instantly became one of the defining milestones in modern automotive history.
To celebrate this achievement, Bugatti introduced the exclusive Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition, recognizable by its exposed carbon fiber bodywork combined with the iconic Bugatti orange finish. Today, this legend continues through the official Bugatti restoration and heritage program La Maison Pur Sang, which has recently brought a unique pre-series example of this hypercar back to pristine condition for a new collector.
The La Maison Pur Sang program represents the pinnacle of Bugatti’s dedication to preserving its automotive heritage. Within this initiative, engineers, technicians, and craftsmen from the Bugatti workshop in Molsheim provide certification, restoration, and preservation services designed to return vehicles to the standards they had when they first left the Bugatti Atelier.
Even cars that have covered significant mileage can be carefully restored to near-factory condition, allowing owners to continue driving and enjoying them — exactly as Bugatti originally intended.
The restored vehicle holds a special place in the brand’s history. It is a pre-production development car that played a key role in presenting the Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition to audiences around the world. The car participated in international presentations, media events, customer test drives, and numerous photoshoots, giving the public an opportunity to experience up close the technology that set a new benchmark for performance.
Beyond its promotional role, the car was also used during the development of the production model. During testing, it helped refine systems and technologies that ultimately enabled the record-breaking speed, making it an authentic part of one of the most important chapters in Bugatti’s modern history.
After covering more than 70,800 kilometers since the summer of 2010, the vehicle returned to the Bugatti workshop in Molsheim, where a meticulous restoration process began. The project lasted six months, during which specialists carefully returned the car to its original factory specification.
Inside the cabin, leather surfaces were restored, and the seats were returned to their original shape and comfort. Particular attention was given to the steering wheel, the key connection between driver and machine, which was thoroughly serviced to preserve the authentic driving feel of the Veyron Super Sport.
The exterior underwent an equally detailed renewal. The carbon fiber bodywork was fully refinished and coated with a fresh layer of protective lacquer, while the signature Bugatti orange tone was meticulously restored to recreate the dramatic contrast that defines the World Record Edition.
During the restoration process, certain pre-series components were also upgraded to the standards of the final production model. Electronic systems and cooling systems were modernized to match the ultimate Veyron Super Sport configuration.
However, the most important elements remained completely original — including the spectacular W16 engine and the complex transmission — preserving the authenticity and historical significance of this extraordinary automobile.
With the restoration completed, this unique Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition now begins a new chapter in the collection of a dedicated Bugatti owner. Alongside the car, the new owner will receive an official Bugatti certification document detailing its unique history, the restoration carried out in Molsheim, and its role in the development of one of the fastest production cars ever built.
In this way, Bugatti is not only restoring an extraordinary automobile but also preserving a piece of its own legend — a story of speed, engineering courage, and vision that defined the modern era of hypercars.
