TOP 10 MOST EXPENSIVE SPORT CARS IN THE WORLD

Buying a car is basically a rather simple and straightforward process.

You simply go to your local car dealer, pick the car you like, and then engage in the age old tradition of haggling. However, the cars on this list are little different. For example the new Ferrari’s “LaFerrari”. Even if, just like that, for some reason, any reason, you just happen to have $1.1 million to spend, you don’t even have to bother calling your Ferrari dealer. If they deem you worthy of having one of the 499 units of this model, they will get in touch with you, and offer you the chance to own one of these art pieces.

That’s just one example of the things that separate these dream cars that make up the list of top 10 most expensive sport cars.

Of course, we have to face the fact that most of us will never have the opportunity in our lives to see any of these cars, let alone own one. However the same thing could be said about Mona Lisa, right? And that tiny detail doesn’t seem to stop thousands of people around the world from traveling across half the planet just in order to enjoy it. These cars are more than simple pieces of engineering and design, capable of propelling you from 0 to 60mph faster than lighting can hit a cheetah. Truly, these cars are cultural treasure.

So here is the list of 10 most expensive sport cars in the world:

10. McLaren P1 $1.1 million

Designed by the same company that had built the legendary F1, the new P1 might just live to equal the reputation and legacy of the famous F1, the first car capable of reaching 230mph.

Hidden bellow the carbon fiber hood you’ll find a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 that is paired with an electric engine, capable of producing 903 hp as well as 664 lb-ft torque. You shouldn’t understand this as a hybrid setup, but rather picture the F1, only with Kinetic Energy Recovery System on top.

The top speed is not as crazy as with F1, it’s mere 217mph. But you will reach 0 to 60mph in just 3 seconds, while 0 to 182mph takes 16.5 seconds, twice as fast as Ferrari’s “458 Italia”.

9. Hennesey Venom GT $1.1 million

The engineers at Hennesey have maybe overdone this car a little bit when it comes to the level of testosterone. However that hasn’t stopped them from making a machine that most physicists would deem impossible according to the laws of physics. This small company has constructed the fastest mass produced car ever with the top speed of 271mph. They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and it seems like this old saying is definitely proven right with this car.

Venom GT comes with amazing 1.500 hp provided by the 7.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine. From 0 to 60mph in just 2 seconds, while the highest speed ever recorded is 287mph.

For the price of $1.1 million Venom GT seems like an excellent choice, having in mind that in performance department, it leaves most of its rivals way behind.

8. Zenvo ST1 $1.2 million

Denmark is perhaps mostly known for some relatively unimportant things, such as its massive consumption of butter or perhaps being the home of plot in Hamlet, however Zenvo is definitely “to be”. That is all 3 of them that were ever built.

Non the less, Zenvo is still impressive. Powered by the turbo supercharged 7.0 liter V8 engine which looks like it was borrowed from an airplane or something. This monster engine is capable of producing the top speed of 233mph as well as acceleration from 0 to 60mph in just bellow 3 seconds.

However this mighty Dane hasn’t had a very successful career so far. It merely cost “Top Gear’s” Jeremy Clarkson his life when burst into flames, and it wasn’t even going that fast.

No wonder this car looks so angry.

7. Ferrari LaFerrari $1.3 million

The name of this car might be a little confusing, however everything else about it is quite impressive.

In true Italian style the heart of this stallion is a V12 engine capable of producing 789 hp. However if you add the power provided by Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERC) on top, you can even hit the amazing 950 hp.

Thanks to its weight that is a lot lower than your average Ford Focus, this car will speed up to 120mph in less than 7 seconds. Faster than most cars reach 60mph.

Unless Ferrari had already contacted you to offer one of the 499 LaFerrari’s that were made, you’re out of luck. The only way you will ever get one of these, is if you find a second hand one  for sale.

6. Pagani Huayra $1.3 million

Welcome to the car whose name nobody can pronounce. Named after the Incan god of wind, Huayra offers performance that even deities would envy.

Huarya is powered by the AMG 6.0 liter V12 engine with two turbo chargers, that allow for the top speed of 230mph. The 740 lb-ft torque is definitely a lot higher than any average torque you’ll find at your local pantheon.

For the low price of only 1.3 million, this car is such a good catch, that you might wish to get 2.

5. Koenigsegg One:1 $2.0 million

When it comes to the world of sport cars, Koenigsegg is something like a weird uncle who sits in his corner at the table and deals with his own business. Well, this business model seems to have really paid off for Koenigsegg, because the company has just achieved an impressive car record – 1:1 ratio in power-weight ratio, first time in a road car.

This incredible machine weighs only 1.340 kg  while its engine produces 1.340 hp. And this weight also includes the driver and all the fluids. This is the reason why One:1 is the car with the highest acceleration rate that you can buy at all. From 0 to 250mph in under 20 seconds as well as guaranteed top speed of 273mph.

In short, on this list you’ll find more luxurious cars, but you will definitely not find any car that can match One:1’s in the performance department.

4. Ferrari F60 America $3.2 million

Constructed to celebrate 60 years of Ferrari in America, F60 is possibly the craziest Ferrari Roadster ever. F60 is based on F12 Berlinetta, car so insane that if left even the speed and performance enthusiast Jeremy Clarkson in complete fear.

Aside from its performances, this sport blue bad boy also proudly wears white color in honor of Ferrari’s North American Racing Team, as well as soft linen roof that you can raise up to speeds of 75mph.

Which is a good thing to know, having in mind that F60 will reach that speed hellishly fast. Its V12 engine that produces 740 hp allows for the acceleration from 0 to 60mph in 3.1 seconds, up to the top speed of 200mph. We can only hope that at least one out of lucky 10 people who will receive this car will test and let us know its real top speed.

3. Mansory Vive: Bugatti Veyron $3.4 million

Designed in honor of Meo Constanti, two time winner of Targa Folorio in Bugatti 35, aristocrat-weirdo who greatly contributed to promotion of early moto racing, Bugatti Veyron is more than worthy of is intended role.

Its monstrous W16 engine produces impressive 1.200 hp, which is more than enough for the top speed of 254mph. Veyron may be a little slower than Veyron Super Sport version, however it is also a lot prettier. The carbon fiber body is painted in French Racing blue. This car is not just a machine that will make you lose your breath, it is also at the same time a work of art.

2. W Motors Lykan Hypersport $3.4 million

You didn’t know that Lebanon had a car industry? Well, then you missed a lot, because W Motors Lykan Hypersport is definitely one of the most impressive four-wheelers.

As of right now, we don’t yet know all the exact details about this car, but apparently its top speed is 245mph, while the acceleration from 0 to 60mph takes about 2.7 seconds. What’s interesting here is that this power comes from a turbocharged V6 engine, that on paper is no match for the industry standard V12 engines.

If these numbers haven’t impressed you yet, no worries, Lykan Hypersports still has more tricks. W Motors hasn’t only focused on car’s performances. It also paid equal amount of attention to the interior. Details like gorgeous, aggressive LED lights covered with diamonds, current speed displayed as a hologram and a lot more.

1.Lamborghini Veneno $4 million

To be honest, we probably could have expected something as insane as this for the Lamborghini’s 50 birthday. However, still, Veneno is a pleasant surprise.

While Veneno is probably not the prettiest car, it is certainly one of the most cool cars on this list. Every time I look at it, I have to remind myself that its an actual real life car, and not CGI concept art from some video game.

But at the same time, Veneno is more than just the looks. Its name comes from Spanish language and it means poison, name that is more than fitting for this car. It’s V12 engine provides 750 hp, which allows this Italian airplane-car to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in impressive 2.8 seconds.

The big wing in the back is a big encouragement for all speed lovers out there, but still that’s not all. Lamborghini has recently introduced a convertible version, which is equally as fast and a lot more insane. At the speed of 220mph in a car without a roof, well, let’s say you’ll definitely need goggles.

If you want one of these for yourself, well, you’re out of luck. Every single one that’s either made or planned has already been sold.
