TGV – Christian Lacroix redesign

„TGV“ trains are luxurious, comfortable trains that are using famous designers for interior planning...

„TGV“ (Train a Grande Vitesse) are the fastest trains in Europe, traveling at speed of 320km/h and connecting all major cities of France and Europe. East „TGV“line is international line that reduces traveling time between Paris, Frankfurt, Basel...

Lacroix in 2006. in cooperation with Paris studio „MBD Design“, specialized in industry design, primarily trains, and „Compin“ company – seat manufacturer, started creating interiors for „TGV“. During 5 years in all trains on east line, Lacroix and his designer team transformed interiors into ultra-modern, like boutique hotel.

Thanks to strong colors like neon red, light purple and lemon green there isn’t anything nostalgic in round shapes of seats. Seats for new „TGV“ are egg shaped posted on pillars that are like back bone supporting all the „nerves“ – wires, lights, seat numbers, cup holders... Lacroix offered solutions for train to look more like hotel, with calmer restaurants, family part, mini office space and   bar.

„I like to think of people who look at speed train passing by. I design trains the same way I designer dresses – through the impression they make. “ - Christian Lacroix
