This ultra-rare 1961 Aston Martin will become the most expensive British car, sold at an auction...
This model will be at the center of attention during the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sales, which will be held on July 13th. It's one of Britain's favorite cars, about which a story is often told. In total, only 19 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato models have ever been produced, and of this, only two carry 2VEV markings on them and represent lightweight versions optimized for competitor racing. These models have a slightly different body shape, compared to the "normal" DB4 GT Zagato models, with a sloping roofline, frenched headlights and differently designed wings.
This Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato 2VEV was driven by one of the most famous British racing superstars of all time, Jim Clark, as part of the Essex Racing Stable, sponsored by the Aston Martin brand. During its racing days, this model had confronted some of the most legendary GT racing cars in history, including the Ferrari 250 GTO.
An incredibly valuable classic car was owned by one family for the past forty-seven years, and experts believe it is worth about twenty million dollars. Otherwise, the current record for the most expensive British car sold at an auction belongs to the Aston Martin DBR1 Chassis Number One model, which was sold last year at a price of 16.9 million British pounds. In all likelihood, the DB4 GT Zagato 2VEV will break this record.
In a world that races forward, we often forget that the most precious moments are not measured by their duration, but by the depth of emotion they stir within us.
