Are you waiting for the Porsche 918 Spyder to roll out? Well, the swanky car with wavy curves will not come out before 2013...
After all, fitting in two independent motors and a V 8 engine, is quite a task. That too, when the rear wheel driven motors will be slotted on the front axle as well as the drive line of the auto. The zero emission car boasting of a 770 hp will have a range of 94 mph.
But the fact that it has not hit the production belt yet hasn’t stopped the super duper plug-in hybrid speedster from being touted for its fuel efficiency and smashing performance on the road. Its speed is staggering and the auto zooms at 199 mph when you want it to go really fast. Moreover, the car starts from zilch and reaches 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. The temperature is taken care of by the four cooling circuits for transmission, battery and motors.
Fuel consumption is also quite low at just 3 liters for every 100 km. The 6.8 kWh capacitated Lithium-ion battery is quite powerful. Electro mechanical power steering makes wheeling the auto around a joy. The hybrid brake system also has adaptive recuperation and ceramic brake discs. The machine has an electric motor, decoupler and a gear unit on the front axle.
The swell looking chassis looks quite appealing. The silhouette of the auto takes aerodynamics into consideration. This will surely give a boost to the performance of the two seater. It also has a carbon fiber reinforced plastic monocoque that is outfitted with a two piece Targa roof. The rear axle steering system is also quite adaptive and the fixed roll over protective system just rocks. Quite unusually, the top pipes exhaust system open upwards.
