NEW MAZDA MIATA MX-5

Mazda has announced the limited-edition MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition will go on sale online on May 20th of this year…

Concerned buyers need to log on to a purpose-built micro-site where they will be asked to enter their contact information, the name of their nearest dealer and select whether they want a manual or an automatic transmission. Registration will close at 11:25 am or when 250 potential buyers have signed up, a number that indicates Mazda is anticipating many individuals will sign up and not follow through with the deal.

Mazda will allocate the 100 roadsters earmarked for the United States to buyers on a first come, first served basis. The limited-edition MX-5 will cost $32,205, a roughly $4,000 premium over the regular hardtop-equipped model. Lucky owners will be given a custom-crafted Tourneau swiss-made watch and a display winder box.

A Homage to the Original

Based on the third-gen 2015 Miata, the limited-edition model is only offered in a shade of burgundy called Soul Red Metallic. A black power retractable hard top, black A-pillars, black mirrors and black 17-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels complement the eye-catching paint job.

The bespoke treatment continues inside with sport seats upholstered in off-white leather upholstery, off-white trim on the door panels and a hand-finished decorative panel on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The Miata 25th Anniversary Edition is powered by a stock 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 167 horsepower and 140 lb-ft. of torque when linked to a six-speed manual transmission. Power drops to 158 ponies when the optional automatic gearbox is ordered. Regardless of transmission type, the engine sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.

Standard Blistein shock absorbers provide the limited-edition Miata with a more responsive ride.
