Porsche is launching its second fully electric model...

The new Macan, with power units up to 470 kW, delivers E-Performance on any terrain and a high level of everyday usability. Alongside impressive sports performance, it features fast charging up to 270 kWh and a transitional range of 613 kilometers according to WLTP standards.

Ten years after its initial launch, the Porsche Macan enters its second generation, now in a fully electric form. With its progressive, timeless design, distinctive Porsche performance, long transitional range, and high daily practicality, the new Macan 4 and Macan Turbo aim to fully satisfy the demands of Porsche customers choosing an SUV. "We are taking the Macan to an entirely new level—with exceptional E-Performance, a new driving experience, and a very impressive design," said Oliver Blum, CEO of Porsche AG, at the world premiere in Singapore.

"Our goal is to offer a standout sports model in its class with the fully electric Macan," says Jorg Kerner, Vice President of the Macan product line. Porsche exclusively utilizes the latest generation of exciting PSM electric motors on the front and rear axles to achieve excellent efficiency and enable optimal reproduction of output power. The numbers speak to the highest level of E-Performance: in combination with Launch Control, the Macan 4 produces up to 300 kW (408 hp, Macan 4: Electric energy consumption* combined (WLTP) 21.1 – 17.9 kWh/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 0 g/km, Electric range* combined (WLTP) 516 – 613 km, Electric range* in the city (WLTP) 665 – 784 km) of overboost power, while the Macan Turbo boasts up to 470 kW (639 hp, Macan Turbo: Electric energy consumption* combined (WLTP) 20.7 – 18.8 kWh/100 km, CO₂ emissions* combined (WLTP) 0 g/km, Electric range* combined (WLTP) 518 – 591 km, Electric range* in the city (WLTP) 670 – 765 km). The maximum torque is 650 and 1,130 Nm, ensuring excellent driving performance. The Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo only requires 3.3 seconds. Both models achieve top speeds of 220 and 260 km/h, respectively.

New premium electric platform with 800-volt architecture

The electric motors draw energy from a lithium-ion battery located beneath the vehicle, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, of which up to 95 kWh can be actively used. The HV battery is a central component of the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with an 800-volt architecture, which Porsche is using for the first time in the new Macan model. The DC charging output is up to 270 kW. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes on a suitable fast charger. At 400-volt chargers, a high-voltage switch in the battery enables group charging by dividing the 800-volt battery capacity into two parts, each with a nominal voltage of 400 volts. This allows particularly efficient charging, without an additional HV booster, at speeds up to 135 kW. AC charging up to 11 kW is possible with home wall chargers.

Up to 240 kW of energy can be recovered through the electric motors while driving. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) also contributes to the efficiency of the new Macan models while saving weight and space. The innovative and compact IPB combines three components - an integrated AC charger, high-voltage heater, and DC/DC converter. The combined WLTP range is up to 613 km for the Macan 4 and up to 591 km for the Macan Turbo.

Sporty proportions and coupe-like lines

Thanks to sharp proportions and Porsche Design DNA, the new Macan models have a dynamic and dominant appearance. "With the fully electric Macan model, we present the first Porsche that we electrify and already has its own production identity," says Michael Mauer, Vice President of Style Porsche. "The new Macan is clearly recognizable by its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family. Classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally adapted to the challenges of an electric vehicle. This has further emphasized the sporty, modern, and dynamic look of the Macan models. The design clearly conveys: Macan remains a sports car in its class, even in electric form."

A shallow hood slope and strongly defined fenders give this SUV model, measuring 4,784 mm in length, 1,938 mm in width, and 1,622 mm in height, a dynamic look even when stationary. The new Macan is equipped with wheels up to 22 inches with different tire configurations. The 86 mm longer wheelbase than the previous model (2,893 mm) is compensated by short front and rear overhangs. The headlights are divided into two parts: a flat upper unit with four daytime lights integrated into the fenders emphasizes the width of the vehicle. The main headlight module with optional matrix LED technology is located slightly lower in the front. The characteristic Porsche roofline shapes a cohesive whole with frameless doors and distinctive side blades, resulting in an elegant and sporty design. Strongly expressed details give the rear a muscular appearance. The Porsche logo now sits in the middle of the sculptural 3D light strip.

Active and passive aerodynamics for extended range

Porsche combines its design DNA with aerodynamics optimized for transitional range. Thanks to Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with active and passive elements and a drag coefficient of 0.25, the new Macan is one of the smoothest SUV models on the market—with positive effects on transitional range and energy consumption. The PAA system includes an adaptive rear spoiler, active cooling flaps on the front air intakes, and flexible covers on the fully enclosed lower part of the vehicle. Air curtains below the headlight module and a low-set front optimize airflow. At the rear, side edges and a ribbed diffuser ensure aerodynamic efficiency.

Two trunks and increased interior space

The new Macan is a performance-oriented SUV with a high degree of practicality for daily use, high-quality equipment, and spacious configurations. Electrification has led to an increase in cargo space in the Macan model. Depending on the car and equipment, the capacity behind the rear seats can be up to 540 liters (cargo mode). Additionally, there is a "frunk," a second trunk under the hood with a capacity of 84 liters. This is 136 liters more compared to the previous model. If the back seat backrest is folded down completely, the rear cargo capacity increases to a maximum of 1,348 liters. A maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg complements the highly practical features of the new Macan model.

Depending on the model and equipment, the driver and front passenger now sit up to 28 mm lower than before, while rear-seat passengers sit up to 15 mm lower with increased legroom. The interior is unmistakably Porsche: the integrated black panel emphasizes the width of the cockpit. The evolving design of the central console enhances the impression of a low-performance-oriented position. At the same time, large windows provide a sense of light and interior spaciousness. In addition to modern digital user interfaces, there are also selected analog control elements—such as at the ventilation openings and air conditioning controls. An integrated LED light strip is part of the carefully designed cockpit and doors, serving as ambient lighting and communication light. Depending on the situation, it provides information or warnings—such as greetings, charging processes, or driver assistance system notifications. The equipment in the new Macan model allows for a high degree of adaptability.

Porsche also intends to use more environmentally friendly materials in its vehicles. Some of these materials are used in selected parts of the interior of the fully electric Macan.

Driving experience: high computer power and connectivity options

The Macan is equipped with the latest display and operating concept of the latest generation with up to three screens, including a free-standing 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch central screen. For the first time, the front passenger can also view information, adjust infotainment settings, or stream video content while the car is in motion through its optional 10.9-inch screen. For the first time, Porsche Driver Experience also includes a head-up display with augmented reality technology. Virtual elements such as navigation arrows are seamlessly integrated into the real world. The image appears in front of the driver at a distance of 10 meters and corresponds to an 87-inch screen size.

The infotainment system of the new generation is based on Android Automotive OS. The standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in the new Macan model takes computer power to a new level. For example, the "Hey Porsche" voice assistant suggests routes, including charging stations, at an incredible speed. In the new Porsche App Center, passengers can directly access popular third-party apps and install them directly into the new Macan.

First Macan with rear-wheel steering and two-valve dampers

Porsche has developed the Macan with a special focus on classic Porsche driving dynamics and a distinctive steering feel. "Thanks to its special sports seating position and low center of gravity, as well as impressive driving dynamics and precise steering, the new Macan provides the true feel of a sports car," explains Jorg Kerner, Vice President of the Macan product line.

Both Macan 4 and Macan Turbo models have all-wheel drive. Two electric motors are controlled almost in real-time by electronics. The electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) works about five times faster than conventional all-wheel drive and can respond to slip within 10 milliseconds. In addition, the distribution of all-wheel drive is regulated by the selected driving mode. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), electronically controlled differential lock on the rear axle, contributes to traction, driving stability, and lateral dynamics in the Macan Turbo.

Models with air suspension—the standard on the Turbo model as well—are equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic shock control. This can also be combined with steel springs as an option. PASM now also includes dampers with two-valve technology. Thanks to the expanded damper map, the result is a broader spectrum between comfort and performance. This makes the differences between driving modes even more palpable.

For the first time, the Macan has optional rear-wheel steering, with a maximum steering angle of five degrees. This allows a compact turning circle of 11.1 meters in city traffic and maneuvering, while also enabling exceptional stability at higher speeds, with the help of consistent and precise front axle steering for which the brand is known. Since 2014, Porsche has delivered more than 800,000 units of the Macan model worldwide. This successful story will continue with this fully electric successor, produced in a carbon-neutral manner at the Porsche Plant Leipzig. The new models will be delivered to the first customers during the second half of the year.
