Schwarzenegger's 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog Goes Up for Auction

This truck has been fully restored, modified, and upgraded in 2012.

Over the years, Arnold Schwarzenegger has shown a desire for his vehicles to be as big as his blockbuster hits. Now, one of the more interesting vehicles from his collection will be available for purchase.

The 1977 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300 SE, formerly owned by the Terminator himself, will be offered at auction by Barrett-Jackson in Arizona next month. The powerful truck might not have been in his possession for long, but it has been fully tailored to his needs and tastes.

We all know Schwarzenegger loves Humvees and Hummers, but it's clear that's not the only heavyweight vehicle he has a place in his heart for. The Unimog, a heavy-duty utility truck produced since the late 1940s, might not be as globally renowned, but it's easy to see why it would catch the actor’s attention. This example of the ultra-utilitarian vehicle has been fully restored, modified, and upgraded in 2012 by German Unimog specialists Merex Mertec and can do everything a Hummer can, and more.

The star of "True Lies" owned this Unimog between 2012 and 2014, according to Motor1.com. The truck sports a powerful exterior look, finished in a glossy silver tone, with black bumpers, mudguards, and roll bars mounted on the cargo area. The front of the vehicle is also equipped with a black protective grill with spotlights. Inside, there are black leather seats, a reverse driving camera system, and a Blaupunkt stereo system. However, a key detail is Arnold’s signature, which you’ll find across the center of the dashboard.

Under the hood lies a 6.4-liter turbo diesel engine capable of producing 320 horsepower, according to the auction listing, which should be in good condition thanks to the restoration and the fact that it has covered less than 4,300 kilometers in its lifetime. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear axle, but the front wheels can be enabled if you want to use the vehicle as a 4x4. There's also air suspension, which should provide a smooth ride both on and off the road.

Schwarzenegger's Unimog will be offered at auction at the end of next month, as part of Barrett-Jackson's annual auction at WestWorld in Scottsdale. There is no estimated price for the truck and it is being sold without reserve, so you might be able to get a good deal, although we wouldn’t count on it, given its former owner.
