In a world where luxury is increasingly defined by subtlety rather than spectacle, the collaboration between Maserati and Bianchet introduces something truly distinctive—a timepiece that does not seek to impress at first glance, but reveals its complexity only to those who know where to look.
Presented ahead of Watches and Wonders 2026, the UltraFino Maserati is limited to just 100 pieces and marks the centenary of Maserati’s iconic Trident emblem. Yet the true story of this watch lies not in its name, but in its inner architecture—a precisely balanced fusion of form, function, and engineering discipline.
Rather than relying on overt automotive references, the design language of Maserati—particularly inspired by the MCPura—has been translated into an abstract expression through proportions, symmetry, and an open mechanical structure. The result is a watch that does not imitate a car, but conveys its philosophy.
At its core is the Bianchet UT01 caliber, an ultra-thin automatic movement featuring a flying tourbillon, measuring just 3.85 mm in thickness. In haute horlogerie, achieving such slimness presents a significant technical challenge, as reducing height often compromises stability. Bianchet addresses this through an innovative approach: a suspended mainspring barrel that eliminates the traditional ratchet mechanism, saving space without sacrificing performance.
The tourbillon itself reinforces this philosophy. Its cage has been reduced to just 2.66 mm, while a large variable-inertia balance wheel ensures stability at a frequency of 3 Hz. Together, these elements create a refined equilibrium between visual expression and mechanical precision.
The movement consists of 225 components and 29 jewels, each meticulously hand-finished—from sandblasting and satin brushing to polishing and hand-beveled edges. The skeletonized design further opens the view into the mechanism, allowing the tourbillon to take center stage without disrupting overall harmony.
The case follows the same principles of lightness and resilience. Crafted from high-resistance carbon fiber with vulcanized rubber elements, it measures just 9.9 mm in thickness and weighs only 36 grams without the strap. Grade 5 titanium is used for key structural components, enhancing durability while maintaining minimal weight.
Despite its elegance, this is far from a fragile piece. It is engineered to withstand shocks of up to 5,000 G, placing it among the most robust watches in the tourbillon category. Water resistance up to 50 meters, combined with anti-reflective sapphire crystal on both sides, further reinforces its functional credibility.
Owners can choose between an integrated carbon fiber bracelet or a rubber strap with a titanium buckle—both designed to preserve the watch’s lightweight feel and contemporary aesthetic.
Manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the heart of Swiss horology, the UltraFino Maserati represents more than a collaboration between two brands. It is a study in control, precision, and restrained luxury—a watch that does not demand attention, yet inevitably commands it.
In an era where luxury often means more, this model proves that true value lies in less—perfectly executed.
