TIMECRAFTERS EXHIBITION

The second edition of TimeCrafters, America’s first luxury watchmaking fair, took place  in New York between 13 and 15 September 2012, providing watch admirers and collectors a unique opportunity in the U.S. to share their passion with the world’s top watchmakers in a selective environment...

The event took place at Park Avenue Armory, a prestigious space dedicated to the arts in the heart of Manhattan.

Part palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory fills a critical void in the cultural ecology of New York by enabling artists to create, and the public to experience, unconventional work that could not otherwise be mounted in traditional performance halls and museums. With its soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall— reminiscent of 19th-century European train stations—and array of exuberant period rooms.

Emphasizing the importance of the U.S. luxury market, a significant number of major international luxury watch brands exhibited at the 2012 edition of TimeCrafters, some presenting their latest launches. Prestigious luxury Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux(owned by PPR Group) presented a limited edition tourbillon, the DLC Titanium Bi-Axial Tourbillon (an unusual avant-garde design for the 152 year old brand, a  blend of classic haute horology with a sporty finish)  and set up a small workshop where visitors were invited to assemble their own watch.
