They presented the first chorological robot, which is called Melchior. This kinetic robot that tells the time was one of the most interesting debuts at Baselworld fair. It was presented under the theme: "The creative adult is the surviving child", and created with an L'Epee 1839 mechanism. This is not only an impressive kinetic robot, but also impeccably crafted mechanical timer with 480 components.
It is 30 cm high and his hands represent the hours, minutes and seconds, with a power-reserve of 40 hours. It is a unique tribute to classic watches and the art of watchmaking.
The founder of MB & F brand, Max Buser says that he wanted to have a robot friend ever since he was as a child a big fan of the Star Wars series, so it's a very happy opportunity to create one for the tenth anniversary of the brand. Melchior robot has fulfilled his childhood dream. Buser developed the concept with designer Xin Wang, and selected high-grade L'Epee mechanism, combined with a mechanical robot head and torso. Of course, with a real robot you must also play: Melchior steel arms can be rotated so you can aim his rocket launcher or Gatling gun. As a detail of perfect design, his left arm is removed from the body and serves as a key for winding and setting the time.
Of course, the spectacular release like this is presented as a limited edition - only 99 Melchior will be produced, in addition to one that will be a gift to a charity auction to be held later this year. Its price is around 35,000 Euros. It is available in monochrome, light colors, dark or bright two-tone with PVD components.
