The French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the company of the same name...
To mark the occasion, the world's most valuable luxury brand has unveiled a stunning, one-of-a-kind timepiece that is truly out of this world. Called the Louis Vuitton Tambour Jacquemart Minute Repeater, this horological masterpiece beautifully demonstrates the expertise of its relatively young watchmaking department. The bespoke watch offers an exquisite blend of horological complexity and the stunning enamelling skills of Anita Porchet and the mastery of engraving by Dick Steenman. It took two years of dedicated work by the brand's talented engineers and masters to create a celebratory unique watch, which was finally presented, delighting the whole world.
The unique Tambour Jacquemart Minute Repeater watch is custom made and the execution of its chiming complication and automation represent the purest form of horological art. The watch features a futuristic rendering of the iconic Tambour case, which is designed to look like an astronaut's helmet with a view of space.
The 46.8mm diameter case is made of micro-brushed titanium with 18K white gold lugs and bezel, while the crown at 12 o'clock pays homage to pocket watches of the past. The frame is engraved with the 12 letters "Louis Vuitton" and filled with blue rubber. Moreover, the case and crown are studded with gemstones in the form of a gradient.
Moving elements on the dial are hand-sculpted in white gold by Swiss master Dick Steenman, including a miniature spaceship, two planets and the iconic LV four-petal flower motif. Interestingly, there are no indexes or numbers on the dial. Each of the 12 letters on the frame is aligned with a corresponding clock.
The watch is powered by the calibre LV 200, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. The hand-wound movement offers a 100-hour power reserve, which is impressive. The watch is paired with a matching blue rubber strap that is embossed with Louis Vuitton lettering. The unique watch will be delivered to its owner in a classic Louis Vuitton suitcase-style case.
No word on pricing or the owner who commissioned the watch.
