The Honorary Chairman of TAG Heuer, Jack Heuer, is here celebrated with a spectacular watch inspired by the two-part construction stop watches that he once used on pro racing circuits around the world.
The technical details, however, are all cuting-edge, with elements borrowed from Formula One and aeronautics: a black titanium carbide steel bezel, hand-brushed and polished to a high sheen; polished, fine brushed and sandblasted steel and titanium cage; tachymetre and pulsometre on the dial.
The 2013 Jack Heuer 1887 has a large 45mm case that is made from a combination of steel and titanium. The black fixed bezel is steel coated with titanium carbide. The idea behind the design of the watch is that it combines the look of a stopwatch and the look of a traditional wristwatch.
The dial is also made of two elements: an inner silver dial and an outer anthracite dial, both featuring a sunburst finish. The two-element design is similar to the one TAG Heuer introduced on the Mikrograph and gives the Jack Heuer 1887 a distinctive look.
In addition to using a Mikrogider- style case, the new watch also borrows the look of the 80th Birthday Jack Heuer Carrera. Jack Heuer’s coat of arms and signature decorate the smoked sapphire caseback, through which can be seen the audacious 39-jewel Calibre 1887 movement. In every way, a stunning tribute to the singular vision of a pioneer in technology and design.
