One of the latest pieces from IWC, the brand new Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil, revives the legend of the famous Mercedes-Benz racing cars from the 1930s, the Silberpfeil series. The name translates into “Silver Arrow” and describes the overall appearance of the exquisite Mercs.

The watch literally wants to be noticed, boasting with a perlage dial, a circular grain pattern by definition, in either brown or silver. In fact, this garnishing is extremely important and significant, as the circular grain pattern was also used on the dashboard of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W25. The Silberpfeil series was extremely successful on the racing track during 1934 and 1939, having won numerous Grand Prix.

The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil encompasses an automatic mechanical IWC 89361 flyback chronograph movement, date display with rapid advance which can be activated through the crown, black rubber strapping with calfskin inlay and steel cases measuring 45 mm in diameter and 15 mm in thickness.

Furthermore, the wristwatches will boast an engraving of a nicely designed Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow on their casebacks. Both the brown dial and silver dial versions will be manufactured as limited editions of 1000 units of each and will reportedly be priced at $13,100 a piece.
