TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL TIMEPIECE

IWC will auction one-of-a-kind platinum Tribeca Film Festival Timepiece in suport of the event...

Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen, the Official ‘Festival-Time’ Partner of the star-studded Tribeca Film Festival in New York, will auction off a one-of-a-kind platinum timepiece in support of the event at Antiquorum on April 10. The unique Portuguese Automatic “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2013” Edition is estimated at up to $25,000 but could fetch much more at the auctioneer’s NYC sale of modern and vintage timepieces. All auction proceeds will go towards the Festival’s nonprofit affiliate, the Tribeca Film Institute (TFI), which like the festival itself was founded by actor Robert De Niro.

Based on IWC’s coveted Portuguese Collection timepieces, the Tribeca Film Festival wristwatch has a rare platinum case, Pellaton winding system, 7-day power reserve, and date display. The very limited watch displays Bordeaux-colored subdials that set off by a slate-colored dial, with numerals and hour markers made of rose gold. The 18-carat gold medallion features a transparent sapphire-glass backing that allows you to see the clockwork within, which bears the logo of the Tribeca Film Festival and the milled lettering “One Out Of 100”.

“The unique Bordeaux subdials harken to a time of Hollywood glamour and iconic red carpets,” notes Georges Kern, CEO of IWC. “While the slate colored dial is inspired by Tribeca in lower Manhattan, laden with steel and concrete buildings that are home to some of the cities most iconic architecture and is a culture movement within itself.”

The 12th Annual Tribeca Film Festival is set to take place in New York City in April.
