Genesis launches its first SUV

The new model will be launched in South Korea later this month and will soon be available in other markets…

Genesis brand had little trouble winning the hearts of four-wheeled fans from the US, but still, they did not accept no in response. The South Korean brand is not just giving up, so now it is launching its new SUV, the GV80, which certainly packs an abundance of power.

Genesis unveiled the first glimpse of its SUV on New Year's Eve. With a worldwide launch date scheduled for this year, according to the company, the GV80 is the fourth model in their fleet, joining the G70, G80 and G90 sedan cars.

While the first images of the GV80 are seductively shaded, they give us a pretty good idea of what to expect. As you can see, this vehicle is a sleeker version of the GV80 concept, introduced by the brand during the 2017 New York Auto Show. The biggest change is that this SUV now features the same giant Crest Grille grille and super-vibrant Quad Lamp headlights, like the new G90 sedan.

The interior of the vehicle is as elegant as its exterior. Genesis opted for a modern and sleek aesthetic, with a large touchscreen and a control module for the infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard. The rest of the interior is fitted with leather-covered surfaces and high-gloss wood accents.

The company has promised to present its technical details when the time is right, but for now, we are confident that their conceptual powertrain with hydrogen fuel cells will not play a major role in the production model. Instead, we can expect something closer to their twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 or 5.0-liter V8 engine. The vehicle will have a brand new rear-wheel drive platform, and it is believed that this will be used in the next-generation G80 sedan.

Genesis has not revealed details regarding the price of the new model, but we believe we will get that information soon.
